ویل و آریل دورانت در کتاب سترگ تاریخ جهان از میکل آنژ بعنوان غول هنر یاد کردند. اگر بخواهیم سیلیتو را معرفی کنیم باید بگوییم غول زمین شناسی اقتصادی کانسارهای ماگمایی و اپی ترمال بخصوص مس و طلای دنیا است. ایشان که متولد لندن است، در 1968 از دانشگاه لندن در رشته زمین شناسی اقتصادی فارغ-التحصیل شد و تا چند سال در سازمان زمین شناسی شیلی به خدمت مشغول شد. پس از آن دوباره به انگلستان بازگشت و در مدرسه پادشاهی معدن دانشگاه لندن دوره پس از دکتری را گذراند. ایشان در طول حدود 40 سال بعد مشاور بیش از 500 شرکت بزرگ معدنی، وزارتخانه معادن کشورهای گوناگون و آژانس-های سرمایه گذاری بین المللی بوده است. همچنین وی در بیش از 90 کشور دنیا از جمله ایران فعالیت های متعدد اکتشافی و زمین شناسی را صورت داده است. مقاله های ارزشمند وی در استرالیا، اروپا و آمریکا جوایز متعددی را به ایشان اختصاص داده است. همچنین ایشان در سال های 1999 و 2000 میلادی ریاست انجمن زمین شناسان اقتصادی را به عهده داشتند. از وی مقالات بسیار ارزشمندی بعنوان منبع وجود دارد که بعضی از آنها در زیر آورده شده است:
